XMAS RUN TO MATAMATA HOT
SPRINGS
We had approx 20 cars on the run. Some of us enjoyed the
pools others chatted in the shade and the usual heads under bonnets' and
discussions on the pony's. We enjoyed a nice BBQ & few light refreshments!
Thanks to Malcolm for organizing the BBQ trailer & food. It would be great if we
could have our own BBQ trailer, we could certainly use it at our annual Ford day
and club runs. It was a great way to finish of the year. Marg

Sunday 14th September
Breakfast Run To Karapiro cafe
& tour off the Lake Karapiro Dam & Hydro museum
We assembled at the Karapiro cafe around 9.30 am ,it was a beautiful day for a
cruise. A nice breakfast was had by all and a look around at all the cars, then
we set off down the road to the dam for our tour organized by Archie Stutt . Our
guide from mighty river power , gave us a run down off the history of the dam.
Then lead us down two thousand steps right next to the spill way of the dam very
impressive, we then continued through the dam and down to the hydro museum, power
generation plant. As we proceeded we where told by our gide if the siren was to
sound we were to follow him and run, this included running back up two thousand
steps, i think we might have had to call out the ambos to resuscitate a majority
of us if that had happened! We were also informed that they have had a few
jumpers trying to commit suicide, so for those who were thinking they could bump
us off sorry you wouldn't get the car because they all have survived. We then
proceeded back up those two thousand steps , there was not much talking by us as
we proceeded to the top, there were a few jelly legs by the end of the steps.
It was a great day thanks to Archie for organizing a great run thanks to those
who attended approx 20 members attended.
